DrumAttic Twins - Broken Planet/ Can’t Give You Up Due For Release March 2008 (Finger Lickin’)
Grinny Grandad are to be featured on the newest installment in musical gold dust from Finger Lickin’ favourites, DrumAttic Twins. The double A side single, due for release March 3rd, which features the tracks Broken Planet/ Can’t Give You Up, has already amassed a wide range of publicity and avid listeners with the seemingly obvious mission to have the obligatory seal of approval registered on the project. One listen to the single and it seems almost inevitable that the Drumattics will be nominated for the award of Best Producer at this years Breakspoll International Breakbeat Awards.
The tracks themselves bring vibe, energy, a hint of dirtiness with the elation and body rush that comes after a true dance floor work out. Broken Planet is in a league of its own and promises to give older DrumAttic tunes like Hyperspeed a run for its money. Can’t Give You Up was the track upon which Grinny Grandad worked their magic. Their ability to recognise and emphasize the down right “just don’t give a damn” attitude of the vocals was the result of their benevolent victory- they succeeded in making an absolute killer of a tune into a track that grabs your attention, renders you into submission and demands recognition. Unequivocally the impossible has become possible. The DrumAttic Twins have managed to surpass even their slick musical levels and Grinny Grandad seal what appears to be a lasting partnership and the long awaited credit they deserve, proving once and for all that they are a band to be reckoned with.
Whilst they may still be relatively new to music, Grinny Grandad are able to boast a respectable amount of success. As a collective they have played along side The Arctic Monkeys and had their music featured on the ever popular Grand Theft Auto games. With that and a new drummer and guitarist on board who sport a resume spanning longer than anybody’s Christmas wish list, there is no denying that this is the band to see for 2008.
Maybe next year Grinny Grandad will be nominated at the Breakspoll Interntational Breakbeat Awards. Only time will tell.
