About
Imagine Mr Scruff drinking cups of tea with The Chemical Brothers whilst babysitting DJ Yoda and you might start to come close to the sounds infused by Grinny Grandad. Based on the ‘scissors and string’ mind of Chris Morton, these guys fuse surreal references with old school record-crate creativity and come out of it with an infectious brand of subterranean pop that makes you feel good deep down inside.

“Grinny Grandad are maybe a band who signal the future for music, bringing together a range of sounds, inspirations and contributors to create their unique style of music - a mix of soul, funk, dance, and elements of countless more genres.”
- Rachel Wade, BBC
“I’ve not heard drums played with such power and feeling since Jon Bonham of Led Zeppelin- an extraordinary band.”
- Tom Robinson, BBC 6 music
“Monty by Grinny Grandad has something that you just can’t resist. It had what I look for in a track - vibe, energy and originality.”
- Finger Lickin Records
“Good Girl is one cool tune!”
- Craig Charles, BBC Radio 6
